Agata Stanisz: born in 1980 in Lower Silesia, Poland. Social anthropologist working at AMU in Poznan, fieldrecordist, anthro-artist and sound blogger. Since 2011 deals with dromology and road studies, conducts reseach projects on the freight, road infrastructure, regimes of mobilitiy, stilness and infrastructural rituals. The author and coordinator of the first Polish anthropological podcast "Anthropofon".

I have been studying sound from the anthropological perspective since 2006. I linked field recording with practicing sensitivity indispensible for conducting ethnographic research in the area of anthropology at home, especially in the context of urbanized and infrastructural day-to-day reality, where we encounter obvious, domesticated phenomena, which usually makes them transparent for us.

3m2 it is an audio-ethnographic “description” of daily life (work and free time) of long-haul drivers. This is the story about dwelling on the road, translocality of trucers life and experiencing industrial and infrastructural spaces through sounds. It is based on the assumption of Steven Feld’s acoustemology (sonic version of epistemology). Sound data was gathered between 2011 and 2015 during research within Polish truck drivers working for freight companies in Western Europe and who inhabit cabs of their tractors units. I spent 16 weeks in the driver’s cab, sharing with them three square metres 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
